There is lots going on here at Comberton Baptist Church as we seek to support people at all stages of life. We recognise the impact loneliness can have on people and so a warm welcome will always greet you, whether it’s your first visit on not.

Our speaker for our 4pm service on the 1st October will be from The Faraday Institute and will be engaging with our faith and the world of science – and showing how these two worlds interconnect and overlap – rather than being mutually exclusive.

Energize, for the children, will be on for the whole session and will also be led by the Faraday Institute and will be a great session, with lots of hands on things to do and explore.

After the service we will join together for a picnic in the garden making the most of the warm weather before autumn finally takes a grip on things.

Join us for an evening with Val Jeal MBE, an inspirational woman who knows first-hand what it’s like to step out in God’s strength and meet people in their need.

Val will be talking to local writer Jude Simpson about her book “Broken by Love” – which was shortlisted for Biography/Memoir of 2023 by Christian Resources Together.

“When God needs someone to go – let it be you.”

Middle-aged, and having led a conventional life, Val Jeal tells God she is available to be used by him. When she follows his call to work with Bristol’s female sex workers, God takes Val on a remarkable rollercoaster ride of love, compassion, brokenness and victory.

“If I hadn’t loved, I could have stayed intact. But I let his love break me, and that love then flowed out to marginalized women, to their children and their families.”

Val’s incredible story shows that it is never too late for God to work in your life, and will encourage you to have the faith to step out into God’s calling.

Val’s story has wide appeal, but does deal with gritty subjects, including prostitution, drug addiction and harm.  This event will be appropriate to any adults, and accompanied teenagers.
